The domain name service of Macao Country Code Top Level Domain (ccTLD) is provided by Macao Network Information Centre (MONIC). During the years 1992 through 2011, the University of Macau was responsible for the management and registration of Macao ccTLD through MONIC.
Since 2011, the Macao SAR government changed the management model of MONIC and established a new MONIC to achieve effective management of domain names and further promote the steady development of related services. In addition, the Macao SAR government anticipated the provision of quality and diverse domain name services to the public by amending the regulations of domain name registration.
In order to prepare for the improvement of MONIC’s management and operation model, Macao Post and Telecommunications Bureau (CTT) has assigned eSignTrust to take care of domain name customer services which include registration, payment and enquiries, etc., while HNET Asia Limited has been assigned to take care of maintenance, management and development of the domain name administration and registration system, both effective from March 1, 2018.
